Page Pate Wins New Trial for Client Convicted of Sex Offense Charge
Earlier this week, our firm won a Motion for New Trial for a client who had been convicted of child molestation in Clayton County, Georgia over a year ago. The client hired us after losing his first trial and being sentenced to 15 years with 7 years to serve in prison. We were able to get his conviction and sentence reversed and win him a new trial
Once we were hired, we reviewed all the evidence and became convinced that he was innocent of the charges. We scrutinized the trial transcripts and other pleadings and found that we had a few solid legal issues. We filed our motions earlier this year, and presented our evidence at a hearing last month. Fortunately, the judge agreed with our arguments and granted our client a new trial.
We are very pleased with this result, especially since we were able to help a deserving client who was wrongfully accused. Our client and his family have asked us to stay involved in the case and help him win the new trial. We intend to do just that. We only wish he had hired us when he was first charged.
