Could President Trump face criminal charges?
Page Pate offers commentary in a Newsweek article regarding President Donald Trump’s ongoing investigation with special counsel, Robert Mueller. President Trump’s legal team anticipates a request for an interview from Mueller in the near future, which could finally settle questions of whether Trump lied about his campaign’s potential collusion with Russia during the 2016 presidential election. Mr. Pate explains, however, that “it’s not a federal crime to lie to the American public and it’s not a federal crime to lie to the media” and that “Mueller is likely not aiming to put Trump behind bars anyway.”
