Jess Johnson has over a decade of experience practicing criminal defense and civil litigation. He has represented clients in federal courts across the country at both the trial and appellate levels.

Jess has been selected as a “Rising Star” in criminal defense and civil litigation by Super Lawyers Magazine every year since 2012. While only 2.5% of lawyers in Georgia under the age of 40 receive such an honor, Jess was first named to the list after only 3 years. U.S. News has also awarded his law firm the title of “Best Law Firms” in the country for the past 5 years. Jess holds bar licenses in both Georgia and Washington, D.C. He is an active member of the Federal Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Jess is also a Champion Member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.

Jess has had tremendous success in and out of the courtroom.  In his first major federal criminal trial, he helped our firm obtain a “not guilty” verdict and was awarded the Acquittal Award from the Federal Defender Program.  On the civil side, Jess represents both whistleblowers and individuals who have been injured by the actions of others.  Jess was instrumental in obtaining the largest False Claims Act settlement in the history of the Southern District of Georgia against a large furniture importer.  He also recently helped his firm secure a $108 million settlement in a whistleblower case against a pharmaceutical company that was taking advantage of nursing home residents.

Jess has been mentioned by local and national media outlets for cases in which he has represented high-profile clients.  This includes law.com for a case involving the CFO of a large law firm accused of conspiring to steal millions of dollars.  He has also appeared in local newspapers including one high-profile case involving a well-known sheriff wrongfully accused of trying to sway an election.  Jess has also been interviewed by several media outlets including CBS Atlanta and 11-Alive News concerning topical cases and events.
